Joy can be defined by an absence of negative feelings, like the absence of conflict or anger or worries. But that's not enough. Joy is not a void, it's not just being without something that bothers us.Joy is enthusiasm, which means "being with God." Joy is the art of being peaceful while living to the fullest, enjoying every day as it comes. It is surrendering to our Higher Power without asking "Why?" or "Why me?"
It is accepting difficulties and challenges gracefully, knowing that things will get better. Why not tackle chores with a smile rather than a frown? Why not be nice to strangers, instead of being defensive? With hope, faith and optimism in our hearts we will move forward, step by step, without looking back and without complaining. We can rewrite our life story and give it a happy ending. Why not? After all we are the ones who create our joy, and we do it inside of us. We cannot expect the outside world to conform to our wishes, but we are free to choose what we want to feel. Our inside world is where we have the option to change things, with the help of God.
Be passionate about everything you're doing. Laugh a lot, especially at yourself. Be patient with others, and with yourself. Don't expect too much of others, and of yourself. Rome wasn't built in a day. Things take time, but if you can improve your outlook just a little bit every day, imagine what your inner landscape will be like in a few months' time!
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." - John 14:27
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds..." - James 1:2
"Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy."- Acts 14:17
