"A joyful heart makes a cheerful face, But when the heart is sad, the spirit is broken." - Proverbs 15:13
"If you falter in times of trouble, how small is your strength!" - Proverbs 24:10
The peace that Jesus wants for us is not a brief moment of elation or relief. It is a long-lasting attitude, a commitment that we will remain positive even in the midst of trouble. Life goes up and down. There are times of abundance, and times of abasement. A life without problems and tribulations seems perfect in our eyes, but is it really? What would we learn from it?
We often get annoyed, frustrated, angry, depressed, even desperate... We tend to become anxious and worry over things we are powerless to change. We would like to erase all difficulties from our lives. But obstacles make us wiser and more mature; they forge our character and add to our inner strength and fortitude.
We fight, we struggle. There is a war going on inside of us, and it will last until we finally abandon our weapons of judgment, contempt, sarcasm and retaliation. We give in and give ourselves up to our Higher Power, as He is the only one who can change us. We finally allow Him to work through us, as we become ready to receive the gifts of acceptance and forgiveness.
Times of trouble will always come; we can't escape from them. But our peaceful, gentle, and patient attitude doesn't have to be jeopardized just because things aren't running smoothly in our lives right now. Nothing lasts forever, and positive change is on its way. After rain comes sunshine. After we've struggled uphill for what seems an eternity, we can finally enjoy the downhill effortless ride. That's when we can just drift along, when everything falls into place...
My love to you,
Isa
